The Bays Nursery was established over 35 years ago and is still run by the owners, Jane and Nigel Mann.
We are very competitive on pricing - we are a working nursery not a garden centre. we do not have a teashop or cafe and do not sell cane furniture - just plants!!!!!
Our stock is currently around 1500 trees in around 200 varieties. The coming months will see both of these quantities increase.
Click here to see a list of varieties we typically have in stock. Availability as stated on our website is as at March 2026. This will change as stock is sold and replaced during the year, but the website is NOT updated on a regular basis, so please contact the nursery to check if we have what you want.
Prices range from £40 up to £1000 depending on variety and size.

An opportunity that doesn't come along very often!
Acer palmatum ‘Moonrise’ is a striking Japanese Maple prized for its vibrant foliage and changing seasonal colour. New leaves emerge in shades of orange-red and lime green before maturing to rich green tones with red highlights through summer. In autumn, the foliage transforms into brilliant shades of scarlet and orange, creating a spectacular display. With its compact, upright growth habit, ‘Moonrise’ is an excellent choice for borders, specimen planting, patios, and Japanese-style gardens. Preferring a sheltered position in sun or partial shade, it provides year-round interest and outstanding ornamental value.

Another opportunity to obtain specimen trees, again, superb specimens!
Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Garnet’ is a beautiful weeping Japanese Maple renowned for its finely cut, lace-like foliage and rich garnet-red colouring. The deeply dissected leaves retain their vibrant red tones throughout the growing season before turning brilliant shades of crimson and scarlet in autumn. Its graceful cascading habit makes it an excellent focal point for borders, rockeries, patios, and Japanese-inspired gardens. Slow-growing and compact, ‘Garnet’ thrives in a sheltered position in sun or partial shade and brings elegant colour and texture to the garden year after year.

Acacia Pravissima (Ovens wattle) is a compact evergreen shrub or small tree with distinctive triangular grey-green foliage and masses of bright yellow, fragrant flowers in late winter to early spring. It is hardy in the UK, drought-tolerant, and well suited to sunny, well-drained garden positions.
Price includes packing, postage, and VAT.

Acacia Melanoxylon (Australian blackwood) is an attractive evergreen tree with glossy dark green foliage and soft, pale yellow flowers in spring. It has an upright, spreading habit, provides light dappled shade, and performs well in sheltered, well-drained garden settings. Hardy in the UK.
Price includes packing, postage, and VAT.

We are extremely pleased to have been chosen to supply acers for the Chinese Garden section of the prestigious new RHS Bridgewater Gardens in Salford. What a coup for a small independent nursery!!
We have also supplied acers and other trees for the new arboritum at the King's Estate in Sandringham! Also in January 2023 we supplied (and continue to supply) a range of acer specimen trees for the new ACER GLADE being developed in the grounds of Sandringham House. Find out more
We recommend that wherever possible our customers come to the nursery to select the trees they require. However, customers further afield are increasingly asking for photos of trees to be emailed to them to overcome distance and/or travelling problems - this works well. As a result, we still do local deliveries ourselves.
Smaller trees that fit our boxes can be sent anywhere in the UK by Parcel Force. Trees too large for the box system must be palletised and sent by road. Please contact us for further information.
If your jouney will be long please ring us to make an appointment to ensure that we can be here to see to all your needs!
If your required varieties are not available let us know and we will TRY to acquire - but NO GUARANTEES!
Unfortunately we don't offer public facilities. Please make yourselves comfortable prior to arrival at the nursery.
We accept payment by card, bank transfer, cheque or cash.
